Tip the Salon Owner When She Cuts My Hair?

My stylist owns her own salon. She cuts my hair. She charges me the same fee one of her employees would charge.

I usually tip her but should I? Since she is cutting my hair, she doesn't have to pay a wage to one of her employees to cut my hair. I figure she is charging me a fee that allows her to earn a good living.

I ask because she graciously accepts my tip. I don't want to offend her by giving her a tip.Tip the Salon Owner When She Cuts My Hair?
It is entirely your personal choice.

A tip is not 'a must' and you do not HAVE to tip, its entirely up to you.Tip the Salon Owner When She Cuts My Hair?
She still cut your hair didn't she? She deserves a tip. Hairstylists don't have it easy. It can sometimes be pressuring.Mine is sort of worried sometimes about if the customer dosn't like the hairstyle. Which is very understandable.
Hmm give it to her =)

Can you cut hair extensions to the size you need? And can hair stylists in salon put them on for you?

Thanks.

xxCan you cut hair extensions to the size you need? And can hair stylists in salon put them on for you?
yes you should definitely go to a stylist to put extensions in and cut them to your desired style .However you might want to make sure that stylist is an expert in hair extensions also ? Good luck !Can you cut hair extensions to the size you need? And can hair stylists in salon put them on for you?
The best thing to do is to go to a professional stylists and have them put the extensions in. They can then cut the extensions into the style of your choice. I would not recommend cutting the extensions yourself. You should consult a stylists with an expertise in hair extensions.

  • What do hair salons put in your hair after you get a hair cut?

i went to tgf haircutters, i think, and after my haircut they put something in my hair that made it all soft and not frizzy.....does anyone know what it was and how much it costs? What do hair salons put in your hair after you get a hair cut?
a serum would be my best guess but i would cll them and ask the girl that did your hair but Bain de terre recovery complex makes your feel like butter!!What do hair salons put in your hair after you get a hair cut?
Just call them and ask. Most likely you will have to get it through a supply house.Sometimes they will sell it to you.Get ready to pay,it won't be cheap.
conditioner, price depends on which kinds they use.
what you don't make sense I'm not saying it in a mean way that could be anything think about it?? if i were to get my hair dry were ever your going 9out of 10 i have a different hair type from YOU!! what if i have dry hair it could be a product to give me even more moisture?? so long story short i don't know... us on yahoo answers don't know just when you get it cut ASKKKK THEM!!!
There are so many products out there it is hard to tell. They should have told you what it was and offered it to you for sale. The best thing is to go back to the same person and asked them what is was.

If it was at the shampoo bowl is was a conditioner. At the styling station it was most likely a anti frizz serum. Paul Mitchell has one called super skinny for about 8 or 9 dollars. it keep the frizzy out and makes the hair soft and shiny but you don't want to use to much because it can weight the hair down or make it look oily.

Have u had ur hair cut dry in a salon?

i want my hair cutting, only the ends trimming off coz i am trying to grow it long.

im a student so i dont have much money - so i was thinking of getting my hair cut just dry without having them wash and blow-dry it etc. since its cheaper right? but should it turn out ok??Have u had ur hair cut dry in a salon?
It will turn out OK but it will be harder for your hairdresser to cut it because the scissors can just slide along your hair, and the pieces that are cut will move easier. If you want it to go well as possible at the salon, ask your hairdresser to just wet it. She will just spray your hair with water and it is free of charge. (If you tell her you prefer her to not wash it, they would rather just wet it with a spray bottle because it makes their job easier too... so they will probably blow dry it for free also) This is what I do when its time for a trim too. Hope I can help!

    **************************************鈥?br>

If your hair will go frizzy maybe they will just wet in in the sink HERES HOPING!!! They did that once because i asked them too :)

  • Do Dominican hair salons cut/style your hair naturally; without heat & chemicals?

I'm Jamaican American but my race is mixed so I got all this thick curly hair, but anyways, I wanted to know if you have to get your hair blowed out and straightened or do they know how to do your hair naturally like with no chemicals/ heat.Basically just trimming it and adding product. And I also was wondering whether they are generally resonably priced ($35 max) because I've been reading all this stuff about them making your hair long, soft, amazing and the such so I was wondering if it's really true.Do Dominican hair salons cut/style your hair naturally; without heat %26amp; chemicals?
Hey there. Hair salons are really really popular here in Dominican Republic, so the price is the least of your worries. It depends on many things like the city that you'll be. I don't live in the capital and they charge me about 6 dollars for washing and blowing my hair straight dry.

It also depends on the kind of hair you have. Mine is curly, but really thin, so it is kind of easy to dry. But a lot of people here have the kind of hair you have: thick and curly, my mom has hair like that, so they'll know how to handle it.

But I'll give you an advice though: if you don't want any chemicals in your hair be really really straighforward about it. Make it very clear that you don't want any chemicals 'cause they will try to convince you, and trust me, we can be really persuasive.

They use heat almost always though. The heat can be good to your hair, but it depends on the person that blows dry your hair. So be careful and find a good quality hair salon.

The long, soft and amazing hair is true but it requires time, pacience and a good quality hair salon. Like I told you, my mom has curly thick hair and they make it really straight and soft looking at the hair salon that we go. They just wash her hair and make it straigh with a blow dryer. They charge her 6 dollars for it.

Don't let yourself be decieved. Don't let them charge you more that 12 dollars (400$ Dominican pesos) just for washing and adding product to your hair. Even 12 dollars is a lot for that, but in the capital and turistic sites that's what they charge.

Hope this helps and good luck.Do Dominican hair salons cut/style your hair naturally; without heat %26amp; chemicals?
Yep i go every weekend they wash it, Set it, seat you under the dryer then blow it out straight put a little gloss and your done
Yes, they can treat hair naturally without heat.

I'd recommend you to go to the nearest one you have, tell them what you want, and let them do the job.

and if you don't like the result, then never come back..

    it's simple :)

Attn: Smart business minds, pls share ideas on ways for us to promote our “hair cuts for kids” salon?

    Hi all,

My wife and I own two franchises of barber shops that offer haircuts for kids. Both are struggling, but we believe that w/ a little creativity and help, they could be profitable.

My wife and I have other jobs, but we do work part-time at the salons. More importantly, we are committed to spending more time to help the business grow.

We especially need help in marketing. Any great ideas?

Also, do any finance whizzes have ideas on what we should be analyzing in our QuickBooks? I’ve heard that we should be tying financial and operational data together to make decisions, but we’re not sure what to look at.

Our shops are in the Midwest.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Rick %26amp; Harriet VenusAttn: Smart business minds, pls share ideas on ways for us to promote our “hair cuts for kids” salon?
Kelly e had some great advice! Flyers and coupons are great to promote your business. Moms love coupons. Think to yourself who your target audience is. Kids, yes. But who holds the cash and really cares if their kids bangs are too long? The parents. More importantly the moms. (because dads like scissors.) So where do you find moms? Grocery stores! Ask to put up flyers or put coupons at the check-out. Or take an hour and pass out coupons to people that walk in and out of the store. Wal-Marts, K-Marts and Targets are good places too.

Have you thought about putting up a myspace page for your business? Myspace creates tons of traffic. You can browse for people in your area that have kids. And when you find them, send them a message inviting them to try out your salon. And once you find them, you can invite them to become friends on your page. Send out bulletins with coupons attached. (repeat business!)

I dont know exactly where you are in the midwest... but check your area to see if you have mom to mom sales. Its a place where moms get together to sell and buy baby clothes and items. You could pass out flyers there. Place ads on craigslist.com (dont forget to pick state and closest city on the right side. home page takes you to san francisco.)

Try putting ads in the local newspaper or sending out mailings. Check the town hall. When I lived in Ohio our city put together a calendar with coupons from local businesses.

Hope that helps! Good luck!Attn: Smart business minds, pls share ideas on ways for us to promote our “hair cuts for kids” salon?
When I worked in the Pizza industry, we use to promote ourselves by giving away free small pizza's to kids who won spelling tests, read so many books in a week, had no sick days for the quarter, etc. This was a small pizza w/ 1 topping for free, no other purchase necessary. But it got the parents in our door and 95% of the time other items were ordered with it. With yours, since no adult cuts, just offer the free hair cut or 50% off cut or a small service you offer for free. This way it gets the parents familar with your place, location, style, and at least 50% should return for the next haircut.

If you have a web site, trade banners/ad's with other local companies. Maybe even swap ad's with a big name adult salon in town. Doubt they would want to do kids and you don't do adults, but you both do hair, great partnership of swapping off customes yet never effecting each other as competition. I do cosmetic work on high line autos now, and I do this swap with local body shops. As my work is a waste of their time and their work is beyond me, we make a good couple.

    Talk to local papers, coupon stores, advertising outlets and talk to the owners/managers. See if they have kids, if so, off a swap of services to pay for the ad's. I use to do this for the used car magazines. I would come do service to the mgrs car and in turn I would get 2 weeks of my ad in the book. Many like to swap work for work or service for service. Back during my food days, we'd swap pizza for McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc. Mgr's attitude is... '; not my money, why not trade? ';

Sponsor a kids soccer, t-ball, softball team. That way the parents are more familar with your business name. Sponsorship normally is a fee of $40 and then uniform shirts, bout $150. And if they win, a $100 meal of pizza and ice cream. But customers do lean towards those that assist in the community. I have noticed an increase in business when I have trophies on my wall from local teams to when I don't.

Offer free cuts to all the kids in a local up coming play or musical. In return, be able to put your business name, logo and something like ';cuts compliments of'; on a sign and put it on a artists stand off to the side of the stage. Free advertising for a free service. Talk to the school or theater teacher.

Call up the local girl scout troops and offer them space in front of your store to sell their cookies. Again, connects parents to where you are, let alone now you have all these girl scouts as customers.

Get items in the business that are geared to the kids. Ask kids what they would want. Magazines, small hand held games or puzzles, coloring books, etc. Make it so they want to go to your place. McDonald's put a simple cheap toy in a happymeal and look at how many parents run there cause the kid won't shut up bout wanting that toy. Use same thinking for you. Maybe even give away a cheap 50 cent doll or something. Can find many items like that through dollar stores and wholesale outlets on web to keep costs down.

Letter up if not get a car wrap on a vechile if not all. That way as anyone drives around, you are advertising the business everywhere.

Find a local web designer and offer a swap of services for a nice web site to be built. I am sure there are designers out there w/ kids and would swap for such a service. Make a nice, simple, yet flash web site, pictures, maybe a small game or two for kids. One, you want to look very professional, upscale, etc, so the parents feel like they are treating their kids, and you want to get the kids attention, back to that McDonald's thinking and the toy or bubble tubes or playground, etc.

On the local Chamber of Commerce? Become a member, attend a few meetings, meet a few other local business owners. Do some cross advertising, etc. I did this during my beginning days and it did pay off with contacts, leads, etc.

Are you a BBB member? If not, pay the dues and get the plaque. Without realizing it, it does make people feel more at ease with a business, specially if small and local. Shows they are serious. Some newspaper, magazine articles about you and the business framed help also, shows you are bigger or more known than they realized. This helps with that thinking of '; I have to keep up with the Jones '; and they will spread the word for you in word of mouth. My one paint shop was grown greatly by this one idea.

Depending on your location, whats around you, maybe block off a section of parking lot and make it a mini playground or skate park or inline skating area. Something the kids can swam to, a small place to hang out and play. They will relate fun to your business name. And the parents will have to bring them or pick them up, again, they see your name.

Hit up a sign store (Fast Signs) and get some of those cheap plastic cardboard signs you see in the grass on corners. Houses for sale, garage sale, new housing development, etc. Put them out early saturday morning and take them down after close on staturday. Most inspectors are not out on saturday and you can get away with doing advertising on these days w/o fear of permit violation or fines. If they do catch you, at most they will take them down you send you a letter to stop. I did this during my paint shops grand opening. Inspector is who told me about it. Signs avg $10 a piece or so. Have a haircut special. Price one week, wear your girl scout or boy scout outfit and get 50% off, etc. Again, get your name into parents heads. And make the kids feel good cause they are being recoginzed for their accomplilshments of girl or boy scouts.

Maybe have a special or sale day, have a family friend or even yourself dress up as a clown or some character. Maybe even have that character show up at local schools and hand out coupons and small toys or something as well. Just like Ronald McDonald, Little Ceasars Pizza Pizza guy, etc. I used my Pizza Pizza guy to the point I had the suit wore out.

Anyone or wife good at doing nails? Offer a free nail job to the moms while the kids get a normal priced hair cut. Be another good person to do cross advertising with. Leaving biz cards, flyers, something in each others business. Can even do this with a local pizza shop. Some will glue/tape your coupon onto their boxes for a week if you post their coupons in your store. Make up 1/2 sheet ad's at Kinko's for $40 (1000+) and then hand them over to a Papa Johns, Angelo's, Domino's. Franchise stores are more likely to do this than corporate stores. Talk to store mgr.

Think that will keep you busy for a bit. Enjoy, hope you stay afloat, so many are closing their doors during these hard times. I myself have had to shrink back to just a 1 man operation, myself, to stay afloat. Use to have 16 employees.
Hi Rick %26amp; Harriet, if you truly want high impact cost effective advertising for your businesses then I suggest you contact these people.

    all the best.
Advertise in a school directory (to late this year)

offer coupons for so much off a haircut and go to local grocery stores and ask for a community board (library) Hang a flier.

On Saturdays put balloons outside and promote the kids hair cut, offer so much off first time customers and get their name/address so you can keep them in your data base or on a mailing list.

See if any schools have any upcoming events like fairs where they look for ';free'; items to raffle offer your salon services to get people in -
Frequent customer cards work great. (Let people use the same card for multiple children.) i.e. Buy 9 haircuts and the 10th is free...
Advertise in your local kids directory. Make your salon kid friendly. If you only offer haircuts for kids, paint the salon in vibrant colors, install flat screen tv's and video game systems to make the customers only want to come to YOUR salon. The salon business depends upon loyalty, as I'm sure you know so you have to do something to set yourself apart and make the parents willing to bring their children to you. You may consider implementing something for children's birthdays parties. Not sure what you could do for the boys but to attract the girls, you could start offering manicures to paint the little princess' up on their birthdays. This could bring exposure to your salon.

Do you ever cut your own hair when you get tired of how it looks and can't wait till you can go to a salon?

Actually, I cut my own hair all the time now. Saves money and doesn't look so bad. I think a girl can get away without cutting her hair more so than a man.Do you ever cut your own hair when you get tired of how it looks and can't wait till you can go to a salon?
omg!!!!! did u do that too?????? i so just did that end of last month... i've been growing my hair for like 4 year to my hip and just suddenly i cut it off to my ear. can u imagine!! i kinda regret it... but it looks kinda cool... tooDo you ever cut your own hair when you get tired of how it looks and can't wait till you can go to a salon?
I actually do my hair all the time by myself. I don't trust salons, sometimes your hair would look better doing it yourself than the way it comes out when they do it.
LOL I was looking for something about cutting your own hair because I am soo F*N sick of my hair right now and can't afford to go in somewhere to get it styled....so like many other times before I'm going to do it myself...
nope..i have always kept my hair long and only go for the occasional trim...when i do trim it myself it looks good so i guess im lucky like that

all the time, i used to be gusty and cut the back and sides but now i only cut my bangs

i only did that once. i shaved one side of my head while leaving the other way too long. that was a weird school picture.
No one touches my hair but me! It's not so bad though since I went to beauty school and know what I'm doing!

yeah, thats what makes up a ';bad hair day'; XD
yup, especially my bangs..I've screwed them up more times than I can remember and the guy who cuts my hair gives free bang trims..so I really have no excuse :)

http://www.milioshairsalon.com/Which hair salon cuts the best scene hair?
What is ';scene hair';? Toni %26amp; Guy is pretty cutting edge, no pun intended.
Depends where you live, I live in south florida and its contour day spa.
in some places there are places called regis salon those are really good places. there might be one in jcpenny or something like that.

Do you get your hair cut at home, from a barber, salon, or chain outlet like Master Cuts?

being a guy, I go to a barber, or I go to Master Cuts. $12.50!Do you get your hair cut at home, from a barber, salon, or chain outlet like Master Cuts?
I do my hair at the hairdresser's.Do you get your hair cut at home, from a barber, salon, or chain outlet like Master Cuts?
i don't want to waste money on salon visits so being a non-fussy girl with halle berry's super short crop, i cut my own hair with thinning shears and haircutting scissors at home. been doing this for 3 years now and never had any 'accidents'. it just takes a steady hand and some knowledge on hair cutting techniques (especially if you take up a hairdressing course, like me). he he.
There's this litlle hole in the wall mom and pop place as you're going into town that my family has used for...as long as I can remember. Even when we've lived in other cities, we've always waited for a visit ';home'; to get a hair cut.
I only get my hair cut once a year, I always go to the same hairdresser for it and she knows not to take more than two inch's off.
    Salon.

♥ I cut my own now for about 15yrs. Now I cut my children %26amp; hubby's and just about everybody's on the block! ♥
I'm a guy. I cut my own hair at home with clippers every month or so. Costs virtually nothing :)
My hubby cuts his own hair and does a great job at it. My mom cuts my hair.
I (female) go to a chain, but I cut my fiance's (male) at home with clippers.
I go to my sisters salon and I don't know why I do it, she screws it up every freakin time. Sigh.
I have been cutting my own for about 2 years now... I really haven't screwed it up yet.....
i go to the hair salon.
yeah i go to mastercuts too
being a man, i cut my own hair
me too, my local Master Cuts girl is really good

Today I went to a hairy salon and I feel strange to be cut my hair by a gay man btw I am a gay?

he looks pretty gay for me.. neither I wouldn't say I am manly but why do majority of gays that I have seen are effeminate or something like that? is that part of being gay? genetic? I mean to act effeminate is genetic?Today I went to a hairy salon and I feel strange to be cut my hair by a gay man btw I am a gay?
    thats stereo-typical

I don't think every gay hair stylist is effeminate! maybe there might be a lot but not all!

And its not really strange you should feel rather comfortable! I do at leastToday I went to a hairy salon and I feel strange to be cut my hair by a gay man btw I am a gay?
    I' m a bit confused.

    (C) You say you had your hair cut by a gay man.

    (Q) How did you discover his sexuality, did he introduce himself as Simon the gay hairdresser?

    (C) He looked pretty gay.

    (Q) Sorry I cant follow this comment. What does a gay man look like?

    (C) Why do majority of gays that I have seen are effeminate.

    (Q) How do you know these guys are gay?

    (Q) Assuming your right and all of them are effeminate, why do you feel you have the right to judge. What if they judged you say on being a female.

Could they ask. Why are the majority of girls that I have seen softly spoken. Don't they know how to speak up for them self?

    And last.

Even if the hairdresser did introduce himself as Simon the gay hair dresser, why would that cause you to feel strange?
Why do you care if someone is effeminate or not? Them being effeminate isn't harming you in any way whatsoever. Next time you go to the salon, ask for a big, beefy manly man to cut your hair. Good luck!
wtf? I'm a hair dresser and i'm not effeminate. Whatever if anyone should no better than to stereotype it should be a gay person.
    Sell out.
stereotype and why should it matter if he is gay or not.

  • What salons in the atlanta area offer free cut and styles for locks of love donations?

This will be the third time I donate my hair to locks of love. They used to post a list of salons that gave a discount/incentive for donation and they don't any more. The first stylist I went to is no longer listed and the second salon did not impress me. I realize that haircuts aren't necesarily free, but i know there must be people out there who are comitted to helping potential donators. I love donating whenever possible (usually takes me about 2 years to grow 10 inches) but I can't afford an expensive haircut and I need someone who knows what they're doing to help my crazy curly hair *Not* look like a puff ball when it's cut! What salons in the atlanta area offer free cut and styles for locks of love donations?
Please do NOT donate your hair to ';Locks of Love';. They are a complete scam ! Check out give.org's take on them:

    http://www.give.org/reports/care2_dyn.as鈥?/a>

Locks of love made only 113 wigs in an entire year, they SELL the majority of the hair received (for extensions) and they do not allow for independent auditing of their financial records. Who knows where the money from selling hair really goes to, somebody's pocket perhaps ?

A lot of hair doesn't even make it Locks of Love, type in ';human hair ponytail'; on EBay and look at all those listings. That hair is being sold to hair fetishists.

    If you don't mind your hair ending up on Paris Hilton's back or sold to a pervert though ....... go ahead and ';donate';

    You already have that cut.

Anyway, salons employ barbers and cosmetologists. They are taught the same basic things in school and have the same experience with men's hair, though it differs from person to person. Can I ask for the ';best'; stylist in a salon if I go cut my hair?

I had been to the JCPenney Salon once and I thought they did an ok job, but the stylist was still a ';student'; or in-training so I was wondering if I can call them and ask what they're recommendations for my type of hair/style. Is it alright to do that? Cause I don't want people at the salon to misunderstand.

What are some good salons in LA...and should I cut my hair off?

I'm going to California for spring break and want to get a drastic haircut in the Beverly Hills area. I'm thinking of going to Ali Hadjian (himself) or Ken Paves (one of the cheaper stylists). Both cost about $100. Any other tips on great salons? Do you think I should go drastic on vacation? My hair is a few inches past my shoulders right now, I'd probably go no shorter than chin length. What are some good salons in LA...and should I cut my hair off?

i have the best hair stylist in the world. she in on camden drive in the heart of beverly hills. She and her sister are amazing. Only you and your sylist know if it is a good idea to ';chop'; your hair off, and a truly good stylist (like mine) will tell you the truth. They didnt let me do anything that would possibly not look good on my face. I totally love them and trust them check em out @

I always tip my hair stylist , even if thye are the owner and I tip 20%Do you tip the salon owner for cutting and coloring your hair?
Yes you tip everyone. Its the right thing to do.
you tip the stylist that does your hair. She is the one who put all the effort into making you look your best. The salon owner makes profit off of what you pay at the desk.

if i do someones hair and they don't tip me i either think that they don't like what i've done or they just don't appreciate how hard our job is.

you should always tip your stylist. You don't need to tip the owner UNLESS the owner is the person doing your hair.
I only tip if they do my hair good. I don't tip the owner. But I tip the stylist who does my hair, well actually the owner happens to be my stylist. But you tip the person who did your hair.
    yeah i do
dont tip the owner just the stylist wel the stylist deserves it cuz the money ur paying to do it is going to the owner so the tips should only go to the stylist

u understand? cuzm i just reread it and it didnt make sense to me!

Can a hair salon force staff to cut hair even if they don't want it done, at risk of loosing their job?

But he can't force people at risk of firing them...surelyCan a hair salon force staff to cut hair even if they don't want it done, at risk of loosing their job?
If it can be proved that it has only occurred to female staff, then there may be a potential to add sexual harassment/discrimination to a civil suit regarding harassment at the workplace. Without some way to quantify damages, though, it is unlikely to go far without some way to show the demeaning actions are being done exclusively to women.

The above is really a stretch and merely conjecture. My spouse listens to a talk radio show occasionally, 'Handel on the Law' - the guy is brutally honest, but he could probably give much better advice and some idea of whether it should/could reasonably be pursued in the courts. Can a hair salon force staff to cut hair even if they don't want it done, at risk of loosing their job?
No,it is against the law. If the person who is being asked to have their haircut meets the dress code, then this person forcing everyone to get the haircut needs to report it to the local Beautician licensing bureau and report this person or have them reported to the BBB. I say if this idiot tells another person they must get a haircut or else...challenge it...if this is a chain store like Cost Cutters or something similar...call the corporate office and report this person asap!
The answer to you're question is yes. You're employment is ';at will.'; Which means any reasonable request made by management that is refused can result in termination.

I know how you feel. I had crazy long hair since I was a kid. I have worked at the same gym for a couple years now. And only last year they decided to enfoce a policy stating that female lifeguards cannot have hair longer than eight inches in length.

And yeah, right now it would be kinda tough to tell them to F off and quit. So I wound up cutting my hair to keep my job.

I guess some day I will grow it back out.
no that is not legal. i just checked with someone that went to beauty school... and its NOT right. the boss cant cut it the way HE wants it. unless there was a rule book that says the hair has to be a certain way
Sure they can, it's the managers salon. .
    Hi,

I am hairstyle normaly they cannot force you to cut hair... you can complaine
that could be considered borderline abuse
    no, thats assault.
No he can't do that. I'm no lawyer but I'm positive he has no right to force them to cut their hair. As a side note employers have been known to disallow facial piercings or excessive makeup, as well as making employees with long hair tie it up. BUT there is no way he is allowed to force his employees to cut their hair. He could fire them but he would need a reason and she could fight it and take him to court. I don't know exactly what she'd need to do but a little research should be all it takes to find out.

** I'm going to do a little research myself and edit my answer if I find anything useful.

How much should cutting fringe cost at salon?

because hair cut now costs 30 bucks. it's abit ridiculous to pay 30 bucks to cut just the fringe. will it be cheaper? How much should cutting fringe cost at salon?
    why not do it yourself?

    Its very easy

it should cost more like 15.How much should cutting fringe cost at salon?
Mine cost $10 from a salon, but then my friends cost $30 from a different salon, so I guess its just luck of the draw!
I don't really know because I trim and cut my own fringe at home:

    http://www.hairstylestalk.com/hairstyles鈥?/a>

It's usually free at a salon for a fringe trim only, and about 拢2.00 for a fringe cut.
depends where u go, but 30 bucks is pretty cheap

  • I had my hair colored and cut at a salon by the same person for the last year, now they want to raise price?

They say...she gained experience and is worth more. The entire year she cut my hair and I could not tell a difference between the first cut and the last.

If the salon was raising prices, well I could live with that and pay the inflation. If I go to a dentist, doctor, get my car done by a mechanic, have plumbing done by a certified plumber...they charge the rate for thier jobs. So, someone that had cut my hair should have the same rate today as tommorrow. Not counting for inflation.

Is one plumber better than another when they charge the same price in the same city?

Is getting a root canal done by a dentist costs the same as another (besides charges for rent?).

So why did my hair cut increase. She had the same experience in the first cut as she did in my last one.

I left because I saw no difference between the first day in the salon and my last day there.

It is for principles that I left. Was I right?I had my hair colored and cut at a salon by the same person for the last year, now they want to raise price?
    I would tell the salon that you are changing salons because of the price increase. If enough people do this, there will be change. My hair stylist switched salons, from one that raised their prices, to one that had lowered prices. If their prices are too high, people will stop going there. He didn't make money, and he made the switch. Make yourself heard and then you may just receive a card in the mail, from your stylist, saying, ';I'm moving to a new salon.';

I shop for everything, if the price of a car is too high, I debate it. I had the sales manager tell me that the sales guy wont get his commission. I told him, ';I can't help that, I'm not going to work more so that he can get it from me, he can get it elsewhere.'; Have the same attitude, shop around, save your money for vacations, not over priced hair, cars, etc.I had my hair colored and cut at a salon by the same person for the last year, now they want to raise price?
My questions is this, did you leave after or before? If you left after, it is not the principle, you are just mad, and can't justify the rate increase in your mind. If you felt she was not doing her job, or there was no difference why didn't you leave before hand.

Maybe she didn't cut your hair differently, or do anything different because you've never requested it, and you can't just change peoples hair style without their permission. If she doesn't know you in that manner or have that freedom, what do you expect her to do? I feel she is safe, because she felt you were safe, so she was right to think that you didn't want anything to change.

If she has feels like she should change prices because of her new experience and expertise, than she is justified no matter what you think. Just like other professions go up on their prices we don't like it, but it happens anyway, what is the justification, experience, cost of living, materials etc. What ? As long as its reasonable.

She might have started off as a apprentice, and had minimal, cheaper prices just to get people in and use to her, like going to a Beauty College, they will start of with one cost, and then move up to higher prices for different styles and different experienced stylist. Also maybe the other people in the shop have already increased their prices. But if they feel she's worthy, then why don't you?

I think if you run from this person due to the fact that she changed prices because you say you didn't see any results in a year, then will you do the same thing to the next stylist you go to, especially if they just stick to the norm, because you;ve only directed them to cut your hair in one style. If you want them to change or you want to give them free hand, then you should tell them and express this each and every time you sit down in that chair. This way there is no chance for mistakes or misunderstandings.

Face it you were offended because she raised her prices, and you felt that she wasn't worth it, because she styled your hair the same everytime, but that is not on her, it on you. You obviously never requested her to do so, so she was safe in thinking you didn't want to change things. Not her fault, it's yours. Hope you have a better relationship with the new person, and you open up to them more. Good luck........

For the person that said all prices are posted, yes in most salons, but not in all salons. But still this is a different matter, especially if she told you the prices before time. And this is not the issue, it is a matter of should she change her prices, and why? Obviously other people in her shop have different prices, because if they were set, you would see them posted up.

No, big deal, if you felt she wasn't doing her job, then you should have went to another salon way before she dropped the price bomb on you.
People have the right to raise their prices all the time. If it is the salon raising the price, you can't complain. But if she is an independent person renting a chair at a salon, there are many reasons why she might have to raise her prices. Maybe the cost of her rental is going up, or she is taking classes to improve her skill.

Honestly, if you don't like it, find a new stylist.
some salons give you a choice between a junior and master stylist, so perhaps your hairdresser got promoted or finished some schooling (which she had to pay for) in order to become a master. she has every right to raise her rates, she has to pay the salon to rent her booth, has to pay for school, etc etc etc. have you never asked for a raise at your job?
find a new hairdresser that takes time to update their skills...

Mine is so awesome...I tell him I want a new cut and he has a ton of ideas....he's been doing my hair for over 15 years now...and he is expensive...his slogan is ';your hair never had it so good'; and its SO true....

His cuts cost $35. and highlights are $85 with a cut...big prices around here, but he is SO worth it....

pay the price.....find a good one....
Thats the dumbest thing I have heard of in a long time. No you were not right to leave. You left like a pouty little girl who didn't get her way.

No she did NOT have the same experience on your first cut as she did on the last cut. I am guessing that in between, there were several hundred others she cut as well. That is experience last time I know.

If they had told you the price increase was for inflation, etc., would you be ok with it?

I go to my local BoRics. The same girl has cut my hair for almost 4 years now. They raised their prices last year. Did I complain? Nope. Because I am an adult and understand about life.
If you feel she was not worth the price increase then yes, you should have left.

I think if she felt she should raise the price thats her perogative but you have every right to move on if you dont feel she's worth the increase!
Where I live that's not legal. There are the same salon rates (that must be posted) for all the operators working there.

I'd leave too if that's their policy.

I like the one with Alyson Michalka [sp?] in it. it's very similar to Ashley Tisdale's but Aly's is more choppy and almost has a windblown look. it's not completely straightened and perfect. i don't know what you really look like so i'm not sure if it would look the best out of all of them, but i personally like that one the best.

    good luck. :)

Where is the best hair salon you have been to for cutting hair in Sterling Heights,MI?

WHich hair dresser was the best and how much is the price?Where is the best hair salon you have been to for cutting hair in Sterling Heights,MI?
Hair to Dare was my favorite but I'm not sure if that's crossing into Roseville. My stylist isnt there anymore but all of the ladies are very well trained. The price is great, I think I paid 90 for a cut, color and highlight so about 30 bucks for a cut.

Bad hair cut from the salon?

i don't know what to do? i got my hair cut re-highlighted and i told the stylist to cut my ends only. the women cut off like 4 inches of my hair and she did the highlights to bright. some of the pieces look white!!!!! i was sooooo pissed and she tried to say that because of my hair color it came out that way but that's not true because i have a darkish light brown color and the highlight were suppose to be a golden brown to enhance the color...she messed it up. my hair is up to my shoulders before it was 3in above my butt...and to make it even more worse she did bangs they came out good but my stupid mistake was i re-cut the bangs...they got long and needed to be cut again and well....i messed it up just a little....idk wat to do prom is this year for me...and trust me long hair suits me...i considered extensions but how can i mix it in wit my highlights and hair color???? tips anyone....please desperate despite all this senior year photos are next month for the years books......and this is the real deal senior year (12th grade)Bad hair cut from the salon?
that sucks...the woman really f*cked you over!go to a NEW stylist for the cut,ask for his/her professional opinion. If you want long hair again,i heard that sleeping with your hair tied up makes it grow faster(not sure if it actually works, might just be an old wives tale).for the colour, put lemon juice in your hair and sit in the sun, this enhances the natural blonde in your hair and lightens your whole head.

Be brave and stick it out, having confidence in your looks makes a huge difference.

As for the pictures etc.,a fab pair of earrings,or hairbands or even make up will distract eyes from the hair!

    Best of luck,

they did that to me too. except they didnt do the colour dark enough so it was the same as i went in, they cut my fringe too thin and too long and it was like 3 inches shorter when i said i didnt want any off the length and they had the nerve to charge me 拢80! i bought extensions for 拢30 and thankfully the colour faded back to my natural colour pretty quickly.

try these extensions, they have loads of different colours and they deliver quickly http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/20-CLIP-IN-HUMAN-HAIR-EXTENSIONS-MEDIUM-BROWN-4_W0QQitemZ140335935193QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Health_Beauty_Hair_Care_Hair_Extentions_CV?hash=item20acac6ed9%26amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

as for your fringe/bangs leave them to grown and sweep them to the side/clip back then have them cut properly again. okey dokeyyy :) hope thats okay x

ALUM(fitkari) which salon ppl apply(if any cut happens)on men's face after doing shave.does it spread AIDS?

i think it can spread AIDS bcoz if there is any cut on face and it bleeds.then they apply alum on face and then the blood will be there on alum and then if another person comes and if cuts happens to him also and alum is applied to him too..then those AIDS virus will be transmitted to 2nd person also..

what u ppl think?ALUM(fitkari) which salon ppl apply(if any cut happens)on men's face after doing shave.does it spread AIDS?
If you go to a salon or barber shop, you should always supply your own razor. Razors should never be shared. However in many countries razors are still being shared, and that contributes to the spread of HIV and Hepatitis B%26amp;C.

The alum salve they apply after the shave can get contaminated. It's not likely contaminated by HIV because HIV cannot live very long outside the body. However, Hep B%26amp;C can survive for days on end in the right environment. If the barber washes his hands between customers, the risk is less. Do you see the barber wash his hands after taking care of a customer?

But if you cannot trust your barber's hygiene 100%, then perhaps you should take care of your own grooming.

For women who might erad this, the same rules apply to nail salons. It's a good idea to bring your own equipment so you don't have to use shared clippers and files. Most salons do not mind if you bring your own kit for them to use on you. Some of the nicer salons even let regular customers keep their nail equipment in a drawer in the shop (like a locker).

Women who get their nails doen should be aware of the risks of skin and nail infections like MRSA and fungi.

about half an inch i thinkIf I go to a barber shop or a salon and ask for a trim, how much od they cut?
    how should we know...
They normally just cut the very ends. Which is probably about half an inch, just enough to get rid of split-ends and things like that.

What hair salon is best recommended for ladies hair cuts?

    And how much they charge?

I can't really trust any hair salon because of the mess they did to my friend that's why i prefer to go to a hair stylist whom I can trust on cutting my hair exactly how I want it.What hair salon is best recommended for ladies hair cuts?

First let me say, ';you get what you pay for'; If your paying anything below $22 for a haircut, one out of ten, you won't be satisfied.

In order to get a true personalized haircut you will need to allow the stylist to blow-out your hair, this way she/he can see the way your hair falls and be able to tweak it in the areas needed.

I agree with your 2nd response, look for local independent salons.

I would call them and ask them the following questions:

飩? Do you offer tier pricing (different level of experienced stylists)?

飩? Does your staff receive weekly or monthly in-salon training?

飩? What cutting system do you use? (the one that comes back with an answer fantastic) is the one you have the best odds on getting what you wanted.

my preferences - Tony %26amp; Guy and Vidal Sassoon Cutting Systems(not the shampoo)

Now you got the salon, the next is make an appointment to get your hair styled (just styled) if you feel you connected with her/him reschedule for them. (p.s. if you know what style you want, bring a picture. Saying it will not be as clear, hairstylist use different terminology then someone not in the beauty industry.

I know that鈥檚 all of work to get a good hair cut but you will see it鈥檚 worth it.

Let me know how it goes.

    lol

What hair salon is best recommended for ladies hair cuts?
I wouldn't go to any chain salon - chances are you are getting someone right out of beauty school.

Ask around and see if there are any good local salons. If you see someone who has good hair, ask them who their stylist is.
    regis hairstylist

i go here and always come out with a smile

Hair salon in San Francisco (great cut/color but not super expensive)???

I need to get my hair highlighted/lowlighted/trimmed in SF %26amp; would love to find a place that can do a great job without being ridiculously expensive. I tried Milvali Salon- but it cost $200 to get partial highlights %26amp; a trim and the cut and color both sucked. I also tried a place on church/market where I spent $250 for bad highlights/average cut. I have shoulder-length, basic, easy brown hair. It isn't thick/curly/kinky or complicated in any way. I wouldn't mind paying a fair bit if I knew the results would rock (have stylists in Denver %26amp; Australia who I pay big bucks to, but they always do a sensational job), but am not willing to pay a bunch the first time with a stylist until I see the results. The stylists I've seen here have always been highly recommended (citysearch) and I've always gone to the exact person I've been referred to.

Please help. Hot date this weekend- can't go looking like I do!

    Cheers!

definetly go to the salon because emo hair is hard to cut yourself. just bring a pic to the stylist so they know exactly what u want and it will be good.Is it better to cut ur own hair or go to the salon if u wana get that emo hair lol?
hahaha i loove that hair cut!!!!! but dont mess it up! haha sorry but just go to the hair solon cause if you mess up then ur screwed haha :)Is it better to cut ur own hair or go to the salon if u wana get that emo hair lol?
    salon.
    why...why.
I think the Emo hair thing is about cutting it yourself for some reason, I've always been under the impression that it had something to do with depression and cutting.
It's best to stand in front of someone with a leaf blower and snip away.
first of all i would advice you not to cut it yourself ..

    unless youre a stylist

its better if u go to a hair salon and take a picture of what you want it to look like

there are some great stylists out there that can do some great **** with scissors

but if you dont want to spend money i guess you could do it

but i had a friend that did that

and it did not turn out well

Can I ask a salon to layer my hair without cutting it short?

Im trying to grow my hair long and dont want anything taken off the length however id like layers, sorta choppy razor look. Can they do this without chopping my hair really short?! thanks My hair is like below my chin. Can I ask a salon to layer my hair without cutting it short?
yeah for sure thats what my friend did but they might trim it alittle just tell'em that if they cut an inch off!! u will sue them..lolz na just ask them not to cut off any from the bottom...=)Can I ask a salon to layer my hair without cutting it short?
Yes. They should listen to exactly what you say. If you say don't touch the length they shouldn't. If they do. Don't pay for it. A good hair stylist will do what their client wants [within reason].
Well your hair will look slightly shorter if you get choppy layers done, I would suggest to tell the stylist to not do it so choppy
Yeah just tell them not to cut any length off
yes, but be very, very specific. For some reason, stylists want to chop. I know as I have been a victim once too often!
    yes

just tell them you want to keep the length but want layers
    yea

tell them you dont want it short and they will listen
yes make sure to bring a detailed pic with you to get it cut

Difference between expensive salon and a place like super cuts?

What exactly is the different between playing 35-60 for a haircut and paying 18-25 for one at a place like super cuts or great clips? Are the stylists better trained? Or is it just how they present themselves as a business?Difference between expensive salon and a place like super cuts?
Many of the stylists that work in lower end salons, such as Great Clips and Super Cuts, are just starting out in the hairdressing business. It's a popular place for them to start because they're guaranteed an hourly rate, unlike other salons where you only profit when you have an established clientele. Also, because they are hourly paid, though sometimes they get an extra commission, they tend to not pay as much attention to detail and be as thorough because they're getting paid no matter what... And getting paid very little. It is common in salons like these for the stylists to rush, too. The reason for this being that it's almost impossible to make a decent profit in a salon that barely charges for their services, so in order for them to make money, they have to service more clients.

In a more upscale salon atmosphere, salon staff tend to have a better appreciation for the clients and will take the time to talk with them and pay attention to what they're saying. They will focus on the details and take their time.

Of course, you'll have good and bad stylists in both types of salons, but the account that I've given is the standard ';given'; for salons.Difference between expensive salon and a place like super cuts?
the difference i find is that, a salon clearly listens to what you want and they have great service. you can find a place with good service and good prices too. i go to trade secret and it is excellent. they wash your hair very well instead of just spritzing it, and ask you what you want. they even ask where you want the part in your hair. the people are very nice too. sometimes at a place like super cuts they don't always listen to what you want and the people are crabby sometimes.

How much would a 'scene' hair cut be at H Salons?

I have long hair near the bottom of my back and it's in between thick and thin. I'm planning on getting a 'scene' hairstyle with short choppy layers etc. but i'm not sure how much it'll cost.. any help? How much would a 'scene' hair cut be at H Salons?
each salon is different in price, so I would call and ask..How much would a 'scene' hair cut be at H Salons?
Ask how much it is for a hair cut in which ever salon your going to and it should be around 拢12 or more it depends. And they'll cut it any way you want it to be and you won't have to pay extra unless your getting it colored :)
I love the look of scene cuts, every salon is different as far as prices,I would just give them a call and ask them what they charge.

Is there any real difference in quality when it comes to Super Cuts and a real expensive salon?

Anyone who has been to both I was wondering if there is a real difference in quality of the hair cut you get.Is there any real difference in quality when it comes to Super Cuts and a real expensive salon?
Not if your a guy with short hair, but for me yeah. I have really thick hair and alooot of it, and there aren't even a lot of proffesional expensive hair stylists that can layer my hair the way I like it. So I guess it depends on your hair. If you find your hair easy to manage then you probably don't need anything too expensive, look in a phonebook sometimes independent hairstylers open up their own salon and have really good prices, but if even you find it hard to manage your haie then I'd suggest going somewhere more pricey and asking for someone with a lot of experience with your type of hair.Is there any real difference in quality when it comes to Super Cuts and a real expensive salon?
The people who work at an expensive salon are usually more knowledgeable when it comes to cutting for hair. Say you have really thick, full hair. They'd be able to cut it specially so that it behaves normally. They're especially good for getting haircuts when you have very curly hair. I've been to both types of salons, and I think you should go to a more expesive salon. :)
i really don't recommend u going to cheap a$$ salons [many bad experiences] they never end up keeping the length u tell them to keep it, They always cut it the way they want it, and they don't have good hair products. i suggest u good to expensive salons or super cuts it's totally worth the money :)
It really doesn't matter which salon you go to. It's the hairdressers themselves.

Strictly speaking, the asker wishes to determine whether there is anybody in the whole wide world who knows.

And so, the correct answer to this question is that certainly there is somebody who knows.

    The next question probably ought to be ';How can I find the person who knows?';

Hey okay so right now my hair is long a little bit past my boobs. I don't have any layers or anything.. And I have side bangs a little past my eye. I'm going to the salon tommrow to get a hair cut for school. How should I cut it???? Links and pictures please and thanks!!!SALON TOMORROW!!! How should I cut it?!?!?
Lucky! I started school 2 weeks ago!!

If I were you, I'd grow out your bangs (you can pin them back until then, I'll show an example), get your hair trimmed, get layers, and highlights if you can. Good luck!

    Examples of bangs pinned back:

You seem like the type of girl who is fun and spunky right?? Well then I suggest trying a totally different cut maybe a short pixy cut or maybe just trim it until shoulder length and then Get short layers maybe if you want shaggy and maybe even get bangs. Well I hope I gave you alittle bit of a good suggestion.
(honestly, Not to be rude i tell everyone with these questions) You should look for your self, Its not like you don't know how to use the internet. its not like you don't know what your style is, Anyway.

ill just give you a suggestion . long layers on the middle-end of your hair and The top layers short.
i think you should cut your hair from the back really extremely short

and do the sides of your hair long. and go from long from your sides to short on the back

you know wat i mean like punkish style

long fron the front and short from the back
Keep it long! I regret cutting my hair short ):

Anyway, get a trim on your length, put some short layers in from

your ear. A faceframe from your cheekbone, and a side fringe!

A side fringe is the new side bang (:
I've always regretted every time I cut my hair short. I do suggest layers though, maybe through in some chunky long bangs if your daring.
omg i have the same hair blonde too. umm i dunno i think i might get my hair cut a lil above my chest

If I want to get my bangs cut, dried, and straghtened at the Regis Hair Salon, how much would it cost?

Usually about 10 bucks sometimes it goes up to 20If I want to get my bangs cut, dried, and straghtened at the Regis Hair Salon, how much would it cost?
It would be best if you called the nearest Regis Hair Salon, but I think it'll be around 30 dollars. It's about 15 for a cut and dry and another 15 to straighten. It also depends on how much you want to be straightened. If I want to get my bangs cut, dried, and straghtened at the Regis Hair Salon, how much would it cost?

  • Is it rude to go to the hair salon to get a wash and a cut with dirty hair?

I hurt my finger and I just couldnt wash..is it ok?Is it rude to go to the hair salon to get a wash and a cut with dirty hair?
Yes! A lot of people don't bother to wash their hair before they go in for a cut and wash. If it really bothers you, just expalin to the shampooer that your finger is hurt and you're sorry your hair is dirty. No big deal.Is it rude to go to the hair salon to get a wash and a cut with dirty hair?
    NO, that's not rude.

It's ridiculous to wash your hair before you go, that's not good for your hair. I'm sure you weren't mudbathing. You're fine. they probably won't even notice.

You'd be surprised what they see in there.
whats the point of getting a wash if your hair is clean? i personally wash my hair when i go to the barbers but thats because i dont expect to have it washed when i get there.
That is no big deal, I don't think it is rude at all. I mean if you were full of mud or hadn't bathed in few weeks, that might be an issue. But just a few days wouldn't be a problem.
No that's silly. The reason you get a wash is because you need it. If you want to wash it yourself they can do a dry cut.
Yes. They're going to wash it anyway. You might want to tell them the reason you haven't washed and how long it has been, but otherwise, no biggie.
I think it's fine--just make sure the rest of your appearance is OK--clean, neat clothes, etc.
    Of course not!
As long as your don't have head lice!
why would it NOT be ok? they are gonna wash your hair anyway....duh....
I think it depends on how dirty! Like 2 days unwashed hair or a week?
    i don't think so.

they get paid TO WASH your hair too...

    Shub,

Get anti-psoriasis cream and spray from http://www.champori.com and it may clear your psor. in a couple of weeks. These remedies are herbal (no steroids and no allergens) and helped with my plaque psor. like nothing else.

    Best,

BernadetteGirls plz help!I Have plaque psoriasis on head.Need to get a hair cut ,but too embarassed to go to the salon!?
I didn't know what it was so I looked it up they said there is

no cure but there are a few things you can do. If it were just

dandruff you could use tea tree oil. or babyoil.

There are many types of treatment for Psoriasis including the use of steroids, drugs that suppress the immune system, phototherapy, topical creams and ointments or even natural sunlight.

Despite the claims made by some less responsible businesses, there is NO CURE for the disease. The best that can be hoped for is a period of remission, when the disease calms down and reduces in size or intensity.

In addition to these contemporary medicines there are many other cultures who profess to be able to offer at least some relief from Psoriasis including the use of shark body parts or a whole array of herbal medications, aromatherapy and essential oils and solutions.

Unfortunately, no one method can provide relief to all sufferers.

Psoriasis is renowned as being the most perculiar of skin diseases. A treatment that gives very good results for one patient may have little or no effect on another and there seems to be no way of knowing which category you fall into. You just have to try different options by trial and error but this in turn can lead to frustration for the sufferer, having to steadily work through any number of options until they find a specific treatment that works well for them.
OMG!! I used to have the exact same problem!! Thankfully now it's almost gone from my scalp. But what I found out is that in beauty colleges, hair stylists are actually taught a little about psoriasis and already know what it is before you have to do the embarrasing explaining. Once you get over your fear and GO, you will find that it's not as bad as you fear. And once you find a stylist that you are comfortable with, stick with them and you won't have to go throught this again. JUST DO IT!! It's not as bad as what you're putting yourself through!! And keep your head up....some of us have been there before and know just how you feel. Good luck and tell us how it goes!! ;-)
hmm tough one there, i understand though... if you don't have a family member you trust with it then I'd think maybe about going to like a small haircut place a little out of the way and explain to the stylist your situation ahead of time and even ask if they have any suggestions to help your condition,i know there is no cure for it although they will recommend a t-gel or t-tree shampoo. but talking to them ahead of time is the best thing i think to do so as not to worry them or make them feel uncomfortable.if you can talk to them openly a little maybe you can keep going back to the same person so you don't have to worry about it each time you need a cut.
Call the salon first and tell them your situation. Then make an appointment with a hair stylist who will already know your situation ahead of time.
just don't care what ppl think I'm a boy and i were pink and black trainers who gives a **** u no and plus i haven't cut my hair for a year and a half it looks ace
i dont know what that is.. but WHATEVER it is... dont let it stop you from doing what you need done... who cares if it grosses them out(no offense it sounds really gross)..=]

but like i said before... go do it anyways. good luck
Try some leave in conditioner and head and shoulders.
Get ur perents to do it or just go to the salon, but you need to gain some confidance first.
