Trying to find a good salon in Chicago that knows how to cut thick hair, any suggestions?

I am a native american with thick hair. I like cutting it short in the summer and longer in the winter, both times with layers. My hair looks bulky and weighed down if I don't get layers. I also like highlights but the last time i got those, they seemed to close and not spread out enough. Now my hair looks too light on the top, and too dark on the bottom. I need to find somoene who knows how to deal with hair like mine. Does anyone know a good salon in Chicago???
