No, I used to get my thick hair thinned out - when I had long hair....but techinally thinning your hair out means that NO LENGTH is being taken off, but the girl I went to didn't know how to work with my hair when I asked it to be thinned and she ended up wacking all my hair off - so be careful who you go to.
If you asked for your hair to be thinned, and then she took scissors and actually cut length off of it - then sorry hun, she didn't thin it out - she just cut it.
Thinning is where they take thinning shears and take random sections in your hair and shed it out with those.
